Tea Facts

-Dried tea will absorb odors in the refrigerator.

-You can use tea to clean mirrors and windows.

-Scented teas can double as potpourri, place them around the house or in drawers.

-Soaking your feet in tea is a good foot refresher.

-Keep a tea bag in your first aid kit to soothe insect bites.

-Use tea as a compress for swollen eyes.

-You can soothe a sunburn with a tea soaked compress.

-Sprinkle dry tea leaves over charcoal before grilling, this will add flavour to your food.

-Dried tea leaves can be used as a mosquito repellent.

-Tea comes from the leaves of a tree call Camellia sinensis.  Although the tree can grow over 300 feet tall it is cut short like  bush so that the leaves can be plucked easily while harvesting.

-Elevation, climate, and soil are all growing conditions that will effect how a tea will taste.

-Away of keeping tea fresher longer is to store it in airtight containers, free of moisture and out of sunlight.

-Tea is grown in India, Sri Lanka, China, Indonesia, Argentina, Kenya, Japan, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Uganda, Malawi, Turkey, Iran, Brazil and Tanzania.

-India is the world's largest tea producer.

-Most tea falls into one of three categories; black, oolong and green.  Other categories include white and yellow.

-Water quality effects how the tea will taste.  Spring water is recommended because of the mineral content and lack of additives like chlorine and flouride, which harm tea taste.

-Oolong tea is a partially fermented tea that is brownish in colour and usually served in Chinese Restaurants.

-Roots, stems, flowers and parts of plants are used to make herbal tea.

-Herbal tea does not come from the leaves of a tea plant, therefore, is not considered a "real tea".
